RI Railroad History: Down to the Sea by Rail
Thursday, January 17 at 6:30 pm

Historian Brian Wallin will discuss the rise and fall of the Narragansett Pier Railroad. The Hazard family started their freight and passenger line to serve the needs of their Peace Dale Mill. It soon became popular with vacationers who had discovered the joys of summers on the Pier. Today, the line’s right of way is one of the state’s most popular bike paths. This program includes rarely seen visuals and a host of anecdotes surrounding this unique chapter in southern Rhode Island history.
